Ron Sims II was born in Cleveland Ohio in 1978.  This native son of Cleveland began his art career while a student at the Cleveland School of Science. In the early 1990's he became one of the cities most elite graffiti writers, painting life and beauty into the city’s most decayed and forgotten areas. In 1996 Ron enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University and studied Sociology, Anthropology, and Fine Art. After graduating in 2000, he returned to Cleveland and began creating a small body of work that focused largely on the social plagues of contemporary society. In 2001 Ron was recognized as a National Arts Prize Winner. From 2004-2007 he lived in Fuzhou, Fujian China where he studied Chinese, blogged, and painted. While in China he worked with local artists to produce several large scale murals. He also received the distinction of being one of China's top video bloggers. Ron is currently living in Cleveland Ohio developing new pieces.

The small canvases are fun and fresh paintings that basically reflect a meeting of the old and new in terms of where I am artistically. My palette is almost also derived form my days of doing graffiti, that choice of colors never leaves me.  I also like to create very rhythmic paintings that force the viewer into a good mood. Using those two precepts I wanted to paint various aspects of Cleveland and Asia, the two homes I know. Each of the smaller canvases was designed to give the viewer an encouraging vantage.
