Karen, a Cleveland Native, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Ohio State University and Master’s degree in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. She recently retired after a 30 plus year career in investment and business management and began painting with Susan Gray Be two years ago at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Adult studio classes. Most recently she began exploring watercolor. “Each media has served as a means of inquiry and response to the media itself.”
“Painting has changed the way I see and given me an increased enjoyment of the physical world and appreciation for sight. I often find myself pleasurably staring at scenes and wondering at the beauty of shapes created by colors or lights against darks in objects, places and people. And often, the creative process and product help me stay in touch with thoughts and emotions that I otherwise may not have been aware of.”
